The soldier Andriy received a bionic prosthetic arm

Ukrainian paratrooper receives bionic prosthesis: the story of military Andriy Nitsak.

As an 18-year-old student, Andriy Nitsak was met in the morning of February 24, 2022, at home. Instead of couples, there were evacuations, alarm calls, and the first checkpoints. The very next day, he went to the military registration and enlistment office and joined the ranks of the TRO. Later, there was an assault company, reconnaissance, drones, evacuations, and then the 82nd Airborne Assault Brigade and the battle near Luchansk, in which Andriy lost his right arm and eye.

But today, he is returning to everyday life with a bionic robotic arm, fully funded by our foundation.

“I was injured when two FPV drones hit the “Hummer”. A cumulative projectile tore my arm off, I already understood that it would be amputation. But on the way, I thought: okay, I need a prosthesis. I knew guys with bionic hands, so I wanted a “robotic hand,” recalls Andriy.

After stabilization in Kharkiv, there were 10 more operations in Lviv. That’s when he started looking for help with prosthetics.

“Honestly, when I discovered it would be a sponsorship, I was speechless. This is one of the biggest worries — how to get a prosthetic, how much it costs, and whether they will give you a high-quality prosthesis. And here, they did everything. And they did it cool,” says the fighter.

Today, he not only uses the prosthesis in everyday life — he drives a car, participates in military training grounds, trains, and even jokes: “Soon I will be on a “thug” prosthesis — I will be able to hold IQOS, and coffee, and walk with a girl on my arm. It’s a blast!”

According to Andriy, the adaptation process was quick, and the modern prosthesis performs all the basic functions. He even serves as a kind of “social worker”: “The guys greet me through the prosthesis. They have fun — and so do I. The main thing is that it works.”

Despite his injuries, Andriy dreams of returning to the army, and after victory, of having his ranch and taking care of the house, land, and a quiet life.
