The NGO Techiia Foundation provided modern operating room lights to Cherkasy Regional Hospital
The department of neurosurgery of the Cherkasy Regional Hospital received 2 ceiling operating room lights of the latest generation worth over UAH 1.03 million from the NGO Techiia Foundation.
These lights will help surgeons during long-term operations. Special lamps do not create shadows, because they are equipped with multi-source and multi-angle lights.
"Thanks to this lighting, I have much better control over the process in the operating room. It makes the work easier because now it is possible to operate without an individual "flashlight on the forehead", which created an additional challenge for the surgeon. And the new lighting makes it possible to see everything that is necessary during the operation: I can lean over the wound not blocking the light for myself," says Serhiy Samokhval, Head of the neurosurgery department.
In the department, doctors perform about 500 operations every year. "But the main thing in our work is not the quantity, but the duration. After all, our department does not perform operations lasting 30 minutes or less. Our surgical interventions are very specific: these are pathologies that affect the brain and spinal cord – and it is precisely for such operations that maximum lighting is required. And now we have it," adds Serhiy Samokhval.
"Ukraine needs business support on the military front, but we cannot forget about the medical front either. These problems did not disappear despite the war, so we continue to systematically upgrade the equipment in Ukrainian hospitals. This is an important investment in the healthy future of the country."
The Regional Hospital in the city of Cherkasy is one of the key medical institutions of the region, which is designed for 1,000 beds. There are 13 surgical departments in which surgical interventions of various complexity are performed. Earlier this year, the Techiia Foundation provided 2 electrosurgical devices and 5 mobile lamps with a total value of almost UAH 1.1 million to the hospital.
Since the beginning of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, not only didn't the Techiia Foundation put the 'Get well soon!' project on hold, on the contrary, within this project, in 2022, 4 Ukrainian hospitals in the cities of Kam'ianske, Cherkasy, Kropyvnytskyi, and Lviv received new equipment. The total cost of assistance is over UAH 3.5 million.
