Lithotripter for surgeons of the Kropyvnytskyi Children's Hospital
Modern equipment for the treatment of urolithiasis in children is already operating in the Kropyvnytskyi Children's Hospital.
We have transferred to the surgical department of the children's regional hospital a special lithotripter, which allows for minimally invasive surgical interventions on children with urolithiasis without the need for open surgical operations. Now young patients will be able to receive quality care without going to the capital's clinics - directly in Kropyvnytskyi.
"Now we clearly see a negative trend - urolithiasis has significantly "rejuvenated". 20 years ago, these were isolated cases, and now, almost every week, we receive children who need active surgical intervention. This device will allow us to use the contact lithotripsy method - crushing stones in the urinary tract. This is much safer, more effective and less traumatic than traditional operations," says Dmitry Shvechkov, a pediatric surgeon at the regional hospital.
According to him, previously, such interventions had to be performed in Kyiv, mainly in private clinics. For example, one of the latest stories concerns a boy who was born with a severe syndrome and had a complex urological pathology. Due to the lack of appropriate equipment in Kropyvnytskyi, he was operated on in one of the private clinics of the capital, and the cost of the intervention reached over 100 thousand hryvnias. Today, thanks to the new equipment, such operations can be performed in his hometown for free.
“This was our dream. Our doctor is a true professional, he has golden hands. But even the best specialists cannot work without appropriate equipment. And when the opportunity arose to donate this particular device, we realized how important it is. From now on, we will be able to help even more children,” said Natalia Tarabrina, director of the Angel of Life ICF.
In addition, the hospital already has other equipment purchased with the support of the Techiya Foundation NGO. In particular, the laboratory equipment has been updated, which allows for quick and high-quality tests. We know how important it is not only to provide doctors with equipment but also to ensure that children are treated as close to home as possible - next to their families - without the additional stress associated with moving and hospitalization in foreign cities.
