"I could not find such a center for a very long time": the mother of 7-year-old Zlata about the experience of her daughter's rehabilitation in "Eva"
Mother Maria tells the story.
Zlata is 7 years old now. She was born a relatively healthy baby. However, around the 4th month of her life, I noticed that she did not follow a toy, and I was trying to identify the problem for 2 months.
A little later, the specialists came to the conclusion that she simply could not see, and that in general she was able to react only to light.
Zlata's diagnosis is optic disc hypoplasia, but due to this, she also suffers from the arrest of psycho-speech development.
We have been attending the center since September 2021. We have been going there all the time, with only short breaks. For a very long time, I wasn’t able to find a center that has a combination of a swimming pool, physical therapy, art therapy, psychotherapy, and defectology.
Previously, it took my daughter the whole day to complete everything that she can now do for only three hours at the Eva center. It is so convenient.
How did you get into “Eva”?
My mother found this center on the Facebook page and passed the information to me. The center was not far from our place, so I went to check it out and was very impressed with the range of services it provided, and completely free of charge.
Some time after Zlata started visiting the center, I was still expecting some kind of scam with money, as usually free is just the cheese in a mousetrap.
However, in spite of everything, the center justified my trust and no problems occured. The foundation of the center rests on a charitable basis, and this can not but rejoice.
What would you recommend to parents with children who need rehabilitation?
First, don't waste time on the diagnosis. Diagnosis is important, but if the child is more than 4 years old, you should not focus on it. You need to look at what you already have and try to bring the child up to the norm as much as possible. It doesn't matter what the diagnosis is, in any case, the child has to be able to take care of oneself, dress, eat, and find a common language with others.
Second, don't spend money on toys and new clothes. It is better to accept some things from the neighbors when they offer, and spend the saved money on a massage or a pool for the child. Rehabilitation and therapy are significant costs, so parents should think about what this or that purchase might cost their child.
What is the most important thing for a child in the rehabilitation?
Complex therapy. Pills may help, but they are no panacea. It is crucial to combine rehabilitation with medical treatment. Because if, for example, a child lacks some amino acid, then no matter how hard the coach tries to develop her muscles, he will not succeed, because the child's body may simply lack something vital.
The Eva Inclusion and Correction Center received its first patients in March 2021. More than 300 children have received free rehabilitation services since that time. The activities of the center are financed by the NGO Techiia Foundation - the public organization of the TECHIIA holding, while the charity organization Direct Aid Foundation is responsible for organization of work.
