Thoracic drainage system for the Heart Institute
Techiia Foundation has provided the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with advanced medical equipment — the Thopaz+ thoracic drainage system — to support recovery after cardiac surgery. The system is already used by physicians during postoperative treatment.

This equipment plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality recovery, particularly for patients with lung injuries and complex respiratory complications.
Igor Mokryk, cardiac surgeon and Head of the Department of Surgical Treatment of Acquired Heart Diseases at the Heart Institute, emphasized the importance of such technology:
“This system allows us to gently and safely wean patients off mechanical respiratory support, gradually restoring independent breathing. Modern technologies significantly enhance our ability to treat severe postoperative pulmonary conditions and help reduce the risk of complications.”

The Thopaz+ thoracic drainage system is used to remove air and fluid from the chest cavity, support lung rehabilitation, and reduce patients’ dependence on external life-support systems during recovery. It is especially valuable in cases of pneumothorax and complex lung damage that may accompany cardiac surgery.
This is not just advanced medical equipment — it is a tangible opportunity to make patients’ recovery faster, safer, and more effective.

The Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine is a leading medical center performing approximately 2,000 open-heart surgeries with cardiopulmonary bypass each year, as well as more than 60 heart transplants. The Institute is recognized among the leading European cardiac surgery centers, and we are honored to support its continued development.
