Ukrainian soldier Sergii received a bionic prosthetic arm
For Serhii from the Poltava region, February 24, 2022, began like it did for millions of Ukrainians — with explosions and shock. Hearing the roar of fighter jets outside his window, he immediately went to the military enlistment office. By March 3, he had joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Soon after, Serhii became the commander of a reconnaissance unit in a Marine Brigade.
“I had the best team imaginable. We always had each other’s backs — on the front line, there’s no such thing as ‘impossible,’” recalls Serhii.
During a combat mission near Krynky, in the Kherson region, his group was attacked by an enemy FPV drone. Serhii took the hit to protect his comrades. The explosion cost him his arm and caused multiple injuries. Despite everything, he refused to give up. After several complex surgeries and a long rehabilitation, Serhii became an example of resilience for others.
“I’m lucky — I’m alive. With such an injury, I can still walk, work, and smile. The main thing is not to lose your spirit. We are the same people — just a bit different,” he says.
Thanks to the support of Techiia Foundation, Serhii received a modern bionic prosthesis.

“My prosthetist advised me to contact Techiia. I reached out — and they responded. Now I’m training with my bionic arm; I can hold a cup, a bottle, and carry a bag. It’s a huge help. I’m endlessly grateful,” Serhii shares.
He continues his recovery at the “Brave Step” Rehabilitation Center, focusing on patience and consistency. Each day, the bionic arm becomes more natural — already, he’s adapting it for military tasks, even learning to hold a rifle again.
After victory, Serhii dreams of returning to a peaceful life — growing his business, spending more time with his family.
“I just want to live — to travel, build a gazebo at my summer house, welcome friends. I have three daughters — they’re my reason to keep going,” he smiles.

Today, hundreds of Ukrainian defenders are walking a similar path — from pain to new possibilities. We’re honored to be part of the journey that helps them regain independence and confidence. Because what we support is more than prosthetics — it’s technology, care, and faith that restore not only the body, but also the human spirit.
