The soldier Dmytro received a bionic prosthetic arm

Dmytro witnessed the start of the full-scale war on February 24, 2022, in Zhytomyr. Initially, he helped deliver humanitarian aid and evacuate people from Kyiv, and by May of that same year, he joined the State Border Guard Service. He was injured during a training exercise for new recruits when an accident involving an M72 LAW grenade launcher occurred, leading to the loss and subsequent amputation of his arm.

After a long journey of treatment and rehabilitation, Dmytro reached out to prosthetic centers and eventually connected with the Techiia Foundation, which covered the cost of his bionic prosthesis.

Regarding the rehabilitation process, Dmytro said:
"The first days after the surgery were difficult; I couldn't come to terms with the loss of my arm. But after talking to other soldiers who went through similar experiences, I realized that there is a way forward. The prosthesis allows me to live a full life, and I believe that technology will continue to advance and make them even better."

Now, Dmytro continues to serve at a border post in the Chornobyl zone, where he is responsible for the first line of defense. He is gradually adapting to the prosthesis, learning new skills such as driving a car with the prosthesis, and planning to start using weapons again.

"Life goes on, and no one should give up because of limb loss. Technology already allows us to live fully, and this is just the beginning," Dmytro concluded.

Dmytro believes in Ukraine's victory and plans to continue his service even after the war ends.

Oleg Krot and the Techiia Foundation continue to actively support Ukrainian soldiers who have lost limbs due to combat by funding bionic prostheses for them. Besides Dmytro, other heroes of Ukraine have also received prostheses from the Foundation.

Among them is Pavlo "Tourist," a soldier of the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade, who lost his arm during battles in the Zaporizhzhia region near the village of Robotyne. Thanks to a charitable contribution from the Techiia Foundation, he received an advanced bionic prosthesis from Esper Bionics. Pavlo shares that this support has allowed him to feel comfortable among people again and return to everyday activities. He is now adapting to the prosthesis and hopes to return to his profession as a dental technician.

Twenty-three-year-old Bohdan from Ivano-Frankivsk, who sustained a severe injury and lost his left arm during a reconnaissance operation, also received a modern bionic prosthesis from the Techiia Foundation. Bohdan notes that this assistance has fundamentally changed his life. After the war, he dreams of helping other wounded soldiers with their adaptation.

The Techiia Foundation continues its charitable work, providing prosthetics for military personnel and civilians affected by the war. We believe that our support is an essential part of restoring the lives of Ukrainian defenders.
