Supporting the biobanking center for military personnel

Ukraine is launching the creation of a specialized center for preserving biological material for military personnel, both men and women. The initiative is aimed at protecting their right to the future and the opportunity to have children, even despite injuries or other consequences of the war.

This was reported by Andrii Derkach, Deputy Medical Director of the Kyiv City Center for Reproductive and Perinatal Medicine (municipal non-profit enterprise). According to him, the medical centers involved in the initiative were among the first in Ukraine to begin implementing assisted reproductive technologies for patients facing infertility. The full-scale war has significantly increased the demand for such services and posed new challenges for the healthcare system.

This is not only about medicine — it is about dignity, support, and the continuation of life. It is about giving those who defend our country a chance to return to a full life after service and to preserve what every nation exists for — the ability to build families and raise children. Because a strong state is not only about weapons and technologies. First and foremost, it is about people — their health, dignity, and their right to a future of their own and to future generations.

“When choosing areas of support, a systematic approach is fundamental for us. We have been supporting the military for the fourth consecutive year: initially directly on the front line, and over the past two years, in the fields of rehabilitation and prosthetics. Today, we have moved to a new area — preserving the ability of our defenders, both men and women, to continue their lineage,” said Yuna Cheis.

This step is an investment not for months or even years, but for decades ahead. In the future of Ukraine.

“We very often talk about ammunition, equipment, and weapons. All of this is necessary. But we have no right to lose focus on people. We need healthy children, we need quality education for these children, and we need future generations. We must not lose our humanity,” emphasized Oleh Krot, President and Founder of the Foundation.
