Mobile X-ray saved the lives of three-week-old babies

The medical equipment we recently donated to St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv helped save the lives of three-week-old babies.

That’s how old Ruslan and Ivanka were when they were rushed by ambulance to the Neonatology Center at St. Nicholas Children’s Hospital in Lviv. Both babies were admitted with severe respiratory failure caused by a viral infection. The situation was critical, and every minute was worth its weight in gold.

The high-precision mobile X-ray machine Corsix (R) DR allowed for an instant examination without transporting small patients to diagnostic rooms – right in the intensive care unit, where the babies were fighting for their lives.

The examination immediately confirmed bilateral pneumonia in both children. Thanks to the accurate diagnosis, doctors promptly started oxygen support and infusion therapy. And in just 10 days, Ivanka and Ruslan went home – alive, saved, under the supervision of loving parents. All this – thanks to modern diagnostics, which became possible due to a good deed done on time.

The mobile X-ray machine Corsix (R) DR, installed in the St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv, is an expensive piece of equipment that allows you to obtain ultra-precise images directly at the bedside of a seriously ill patient. At the same time, without risk to life during transportation and without delays in diagnosis. Every month, this hospital performs over 300 X-ray examinations, most of which are in the intensive care unit.

“For our little patients, this device is a real salvation,” says Nora Kaminska, a pediatric radiologist at St. Nicholas Hospital. The story of Ivanka and Ruslan only confirms this: one good deed can save more than one life.

Ukrainian children deserve the best medical care, and this care becomes a reality even in the most difficult times.
