Cryostorage facility for military personnel’s reproductive biomaterial

Techiia Foundation has joined an important initiative supporting the only state-funded and free reproductive technology center and cryostorage facility in Northern Ukraine, providing military personnel with access to the freezing and long-term preservation of their reproductive biomaterial.

What we have done:

1. Installed and commissioned a modern climate-control system including air conditioning, ventilation, and monitoring of pressure, humidity, and temperature — essential for the reliable storage of biological material, including reproductive cells and embryos, in liquid nitrogen in accordance with international standards.
2. Created fully controlled and safe conditions for the operation of the cryostorage facility.
3. Supported the development of a unique rehabilitation laboratory for pregnant women and women in the postpartum period.

In the context of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, reproductive health has taken on particular importance. This is especially true for Ukraine’s service members, both men and women, who put their lives and health at risk every day through military service and participation in combat.
The ability to preserve reproductive cells and embryos gives them an opportunity to become parents in the future — even when the war has put that future at risk.

Oleh Krot, founder of the Techiia Foundation, believes that Ukraine must already be thinking beyond victory and a just peace — about what kind of country it will be in five, ten, and more years. That is why he considers protecting the health of Ukrainians and preserving the nation’s genetic heritage an investment in the country’s future.
