A barrier-free maternity space for women with disabilities
We joined the effort to advance accessible healthcare by supporting the maternity hospital Maternity Hospital No. 2 “Mostytskyi”, a facility that became the first state-run maternity hospital in Ukraine to create a fully barrier-free environment with modern family delivery rooms adapted to diverse needs, including those of women with disabilities and people with limited mobility.

The space was designed to ensure freedom of movement, accessibility of medical equipment, and maximum comfort during childbirth and the postpartum period. Its purpose goes beyond physical accessibility—it is about providing dignity, safety, and equality, ensuring that women and fathers with physical disabilities do not feel limited by their bodies during one of the most important moments of their lives.

We purchased specialized transforming birthing beds and chairs to help ensure that every family has the right to safe and comfortable childbirth and the opportunity to experience this life-changing moment just like everyone else: to be together, support one another, hold their child for the first time, and embrace them without facing physical barriers or limitations.

Today, during the war and especially in the post-war period, projects like this have become increasingly important. Ukraine already has thousands of people living with the consequences of injuries, amputations, or loss of mobility, and unfortunately, this number continues to grow. That is why accessibility in healthcare is no longer an exception—it has become a new systemic necessity.
Stories like this should be expanded and replicated in cities across Ukraine. Accessible healthcare is about respecting human dignity, ensuring equal access to services, and protecting every family's right to experience life's most important moments without fear, pain, or unnecessary barriers.
